SATURDAY 10TH JANUARY 10.00AM 'til around 3.30PM  (9.30am for Coffee)
'OPEN THE BOOK' TRAINING DAY with JULIE JEFFERIES
Over the last few years, over 30 teams have sprung up across North Wales doing something called ‘Open the book’ (‘Agor y Llyfr’ yn Gymraeg) in schools.
Who are these people? Are they experienced, qualified youth workers or clergy?
Nope! - only a very small percentage of them fall into this category.
Open the book teams are largely made up of local church members who are willing to give a little time on a regular basis to work together in their local school.
It’s not a complicated task – enthusiasm and availability are the key qualities.
Open the book is a work of the Bible Society and involved teams working together (from one church or across the churches) to tell Bible stories in primary school assemblies.
These teams of volunteer storytellers use drama, mime, props, costume and audience participation to present Bible stories in ways that are lively, interactive, engaging and fun!
At no cost to schools, this programme is OFSTED and SIAS approved and is a fantastic way to share the Bible.
Bible Society provide great scripts which make this an easy task for even the most inexperienced group to begin. All that’s needed is some training and time to prepare well together.
Interested? Want to know more? Keen to explore this happening in your locality?
We (Urban Saints) will be hosting the day – as we’ve done before – and lunch will be provided for those booked in advance.
Cost of the day will be £5 per person and advanced booking is required.
Book now simply by e-maiing or phoning me, details below. Do let me know if you have any specific dietry requirements.
