March 2015

SUNDAY 1ST MARCH
A DAY FOR WALES
Make the spiritual needs of the nation and the churches a special focus for prayer.
On 1st March, or a Sunday service soon after, could you give 5-10 minutes to:
· Pray for Wales, and a specific needy area in Wales
· Encourage everyone to ‘Adopt a Town’ by praying for one of the places highlighted on the website
· Show one of the Video clips on the website to introduce a planter or leader
· Start a process in your church to make your own mission link in Wales with another church, leader or area.
To help you with this, the website has a Prayer page giving key places and things to pray for. There is also a Waleswide bookmark available to encourage people to adopt a town and pray for it regularly. The bookmark can be downloaded for desktop printing at Bookmark1502. Copies of the bookmark can also be obtained by emailing post@waleswide.org. Please give your name and address and say how many copies you will need. Just imagine… if thousands of people started praying for a dozen or so places every day…
Also on the website is a blog on this subject encouraging us to pray for labourers for the harvest field. What we need is for God to call people to do gospel, lead, and plant in Dolgellau, Builth, Newcastle Emlyn, Talgarth… and Jesus was very clear what we need to do about that!
An encouraging example of how this might work out is Tregaron. Over twelve years ago, prompted by the book 'If You Want to Walk on the Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat', I started to pray every day for Tregaron. Glyn and Martha Morgan had been struggling on in a small Welsh work, and then ill-health hit them. I prayed on. Last month Carwyn Arthur, with his wife Alicia, was appointed as the minister of the chapels in the area, and they have had an encouraging welcome as he makes the Lord Jesus known in the chapels, the schools and the community. How thrilling is that?! Wouldn’t it be great if the same progress was seen in the other places on the Prayer map?!
As for your church linking up with another church or plant in a needy area, or other ways to get involved in a New Mission to Wales, please let us know if we can help. We will gladly come and talk to leaders or churches about the opportunities available. For further aspects see our Waleswide Training page.
If you are in a needy area, then do remember that Waleswide offers small grants to help with gospel work. Fill in the Application form… others have!
