SUNDAY 6TH - SUNDAY 13TH NOVEMBER
IDOP 2016 - INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH
In the modern church calendar, the first two Sundays of November is set apart to remember and pray for the persecuted church, through the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP).
Today’s greatest untold story is that more than 100 million Christians worldwide face persecution for their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Daily Christians in countries such as Eritrea, Nigeria, India, Pakistan, Sudan and Sri Lanka face imprisonment, violence and even death.
IDOP is a time set apart for us to remember thousands of our Christian brothers and sisters around the world who suffer persecution, simply because they confess Jesus Christ as Lord.
We invite you to explore the variety of resources on this website and hope you will join Christians worldwide in praying for persecuted Christians this November.
The IDOP.org website and resources are brought to you by the Religious Liberty Commission of the World Evangelical Alliance.

BIBLE UNZIPPED

We are finishing the year (no gathering in December) with a flourish by inviting the theologian Dr. Nigel G. Wright to take the whole morning. Nigel retired to Cheshire after many successful years as Principal of Spurgeon’s Baptist College in London. He is a prolific author and much sought-after conference speaker. He has pastored a number of large churches in the North West of England including Altrincham Baptist Church. His many publications include
• Vital Truth: The Convictions of the Christian Community 2015
• Free Church, Free State: The Positive Baptist Vision. 2005.
• Power and Discipleship: Towards a Baptist Theology of the State. , 1996. (The Whitley Lecture for 1996-97.)
• The Fair Face of Evil: Putting the Power of Darkness in Its Place. 1989.
• God on the Inside: The Holy Spirit in Holy Scripture. 2006.
He is a lively, witty, engaging speaker, with a profound grasp of modern theology and the challenges facing the Christian Church.
His topic for us is 'The Jesus of History and the Resurrection Revisited'
As always, the event is free and open to anyone, even if they have never visited Bible Unzipped.
