Rest of 2017

THURSDAY 2ND NOVEMBER 7.30 - 9.30PM
REFORMATION FOR ALL SAINTS COLWYN
On the 500th Anniversary of Martin Luther publishing his Ninety-Five Theses in Wittenberg, Germany, join us to consider the story of Luther and the Reformation, and its lasting legacy for Christians at home and abroad.
Revd Dr David Hilborn will set the Reformation in its wider context, and will give insight into the personal journey of faith taken by Luther as a monk and as a reformer.
David will also reflect on the impact of the Reformation, then and now, with the challenge to the church of Semper Reformanda – always being reformed.
There is ample car parking opposite the Church building.

THURSDAY 7TH DECEMBER 7.30 - 9.30PM
APOLOGETICS WITHOUT APOLOGY - PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT AS CHRISTIAN APOLOGETICS
How can the church promote new models of public engagement and citizenship around visions of the common good?
Basically, it’s the Christmas message of ‘goodwill for all people’ – but not just a message, and not just at Christmas!
The dominant messages we hear from the media are of society becoming more and more secular and of faith as a public force being marginalised. And yet such messages have failed to account for the continued vitality and relevance of religion in the global public square.
It is important to challenge simplistic accounts and to model new visibility in our community and in the wider public arena – ‘public theology’ can be a powerful form of Christian apologetics. Apologetics without apology!
This event led by Professor Elaine Graham will ask how public engagement – by you and your church – might contribute constructively, without privilege and without prejudice, to repairing our fractured body politic and to promoting new models of citizenship and civic engagement around visions of the common good.
There is ample car parking opposite the Church building.
